Mission Statement

Family wealth is more than money.

I am a Wealth Therapist™. I use my unique combination of training and experience to help people identify and preserve the true wealth of a family.

The true wealth includes relationships, heritage, history, values, goals, dreams, and philanthropy.

While accountants, lawyers, and financial managers may tell you how to preserve money, they do not and cannot address the emotions attached to family wealth.

The goals of my work include strengthening family relationships, anticipating and avoiding family challenges, creating a methodology for ongoing dialogue across generations, and acknowledging the breadth and depth of emotions around wealth.

About Judith Rubins

For the past 15 years, Judith has combined her experience as a trial lawyer and licensed Marriage and Family therapist to assist families faced with the challenges of preservation of both multi-generational wealth and the family itself.

As she tells the families she works with, “this isn't just about saving inheritance taxes. It’s about creating a legacy.”  She believes that legacy is greater than currency.

Most families come to her with an established extended team of estate and tax lawyers, accountants, and financial advisors. She doesn’t address any of the issues these professionals handle. Working within these relationships she asks the questions these other professionals are afraid to ask, and uncovers hidden and significant family issues impacting preservation of family wealth.

With $80 trillion of wealth expected to be transferred from baby boomers to millennials, there is a significant demand for these services. In response to this need, she has developed a program called The Wealth Therapist™, which assists families in preserving their wealth and legacy for future generations.

She has formalized a program with multiple modules that integrate all of the elements and aspects that must be addressed in any analysis of families that have multi-generational wealth. The goal is to provide workable, flexible options for all types of family dynamics. She delves into the core issues that most families must deal with if they are to create a workable plan for preserving their wealth as well as family relationships.

Menu of Services

Preliminary Phone Consultation (30-45 minutes)

Every client and family needs are truly unique. My goal is to understand your needs, your family dynamics, and your professional advisory team so that I can provide you with a blueprint to preserve multi-generational family wealth. I am very hands on with each of my clients because emotions aren’t cookie cutter.

 In this call, we will cover the following:

  • What is the current situation in your wealth plan?

  • Who are all of the family members who need to be considered and included in any plan?

  • Who are the other professionals that are already part of your team?

As a result of this conversation, I can determine if you can benefit from my services.

Intake and Assessment (2-3 hours in-person or via Zoom)

This will be a longer conversation where we explore a few of the underlying emotional dynamics present in the family. Specifically, we will cover the following:

  • What are your immediate and long-term goals?

  • What legacy do you want to create?

  • What is the family story and mythology so far?

  • What level of transparency are you comfortable with?

  • Who’s who in the family as it relates to power and control?

  • What are the issues that have already presented and what should we anticipate going forward?

  • How have you dealt with issues regarding multi-generational wealth in the past?

 As a result of this conversation, I will generate a detailed proposal customized to your specific family needs and goals.
